Step #1:

First of all you need to download HijackThis to your desktop, do this by clicking the "Download Now" button below. If you've already installed HijackThis, please skip to Step #2:



Step #2:

Double click the HJTInstall icon on your desktop. A window will appear asking if you are sure that you would like to run this file. Click the "Run" button (see figure 1). By default, it will install to: C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis

Step #3:

Click the Install button (see figure 2).

Step #4:

Accept the licensing agreement to continue.

Step #5:

Click the button titled: "Do a system scan and save a logfile" (see figure 3)

Step #6:

HijackThis will now scan your system and produce a log file in both the HJT window and in a Notepad window (see figure 4).

Step #7:

In the Notepad window, go to "Edit" and then "Select All" (see figure 5). This will highlight all of the log entries in the Notepad window. Now, simply press CTRL + C on your keyboard to copy the entire log.

Step #8:

Now you will need to place the log file that you've copied in to the 5 Star Support HJT Logs Forum.

Step #9:

Once inside the HJT Logs forum, click the "New Topic" button (see figure 6):

Step #10:

This will take you to a new page where you can insert your log file by right clicking inside the new page and select "Paste" from the resulting window (see figure 7).

Step #11:

Give your topic a Title.

Step #12:

Click the "Post New Topic" button.

You're done! Leave the rest to us. Please be patient while we review your log file. This could take several hours depending on the work load of our volunteer Security Experts.
