I have an associates in electronic
repair and am close to completing my A+ certification course. I have
owned a computer since 1993 and have dealt with about every issue a
computer user can come across. Very well versed with DOS commands, the
basis for computing. I feel quite comfortable with computers and how
they operate. By word of mouth, I have people call for support issues
with their computers. Would like to someday start my own shop.
I remember the first computer I bought, an ACER using Win3x. After
reading the directions I finally got all the cables in the right places,
plugged it in, inserted a floppy and turned it on. The only thing I got
it to do was tell me it was a non-system disk. That's as far as I could
get with it. My frustration of not knowing how use it caused me to put
everything back in the box and almost take it back to the store for a
refund. As I cooled down I decided to contact a programming firm to show
me how to use the computer. After reading all the books I could get my
hands on, I became very proficient in DOS, which boosted my confidence
in using the computer. I love to hear of rare computer problems in
magazines or from friends and then research the solutions for personal
reference.
Comments: I know there are many "for profit" support sites, but not many
free support sites for people that really need the help. I think this is
a very much needed service and great benefit to computer users and would
like to be a part of such a group. |
