Outlook Express Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

After installing Windows XP SP2, I get a Red X instead of the picture

After installing Windows XP Service Pack 2, Outlook Express users may not notice any pictures in their emails, only a Red X.

In order to view these pictures click the bar under the subject line in the preview pane that says, "Some pictures have been blocked...Click here to download pictures." The picture will now be visible.

If you would like to turn the feature off all together, go to Tools/Options and click the "Security" tab. Under "Download Images" uncheck the box marked "Block images and other external content..." Now your pictures should appear without any problem.
