Cannot Access Pop Mail, Web Mail, Gmail

Greetings Everyone,

I consider myself a pretty good novice (IT Manager for 20+ years) and this morning someone awry comes my way.

I started my laptop for my normal morning email checking etc. when I opened Outlook and it took an amazing amount of time to check email. It did not report any new mail which was strange being that the email was still on the server (via my Dash Smartphone).

So I also at the same time, went on the web to log onto my my domain's web-mail (to check the mail instead of Outlook) and it timed out. I saw that my Gmail Notifier was timed out. So I checked the web version of all my emails (Yahoo, different domains, etc.) and I cannot access any website or pop server that has to do with email.

Outlook Error: Receiving' reported error (0x80042108) : 'Outlook cannot connect to your incoming (POP3) e-mail server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

I can access any website that does not have email. I can go to Yahoo; but not Yahoo mail. I can go to Google; but not Gmail, etc.

I can access all these sites on another PC.

I have the frightening Error 4226 in my event log effective this morning. I ran the so called patch to raise my outbound half connections to 50. Nothing happened.

I do not have any P2P programming running.

I tried the trick of disabling then enabling my NIC cards, no change.

I have scanned the PC with SuperAntiSpyware, Spybot S&D, AVG 8.5, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (all scans run in Safe Mode). Not one lick of anything except three tracking cookies reported.

Would certainly appreciate any input and help as this is my main "work" PC.

Thanks for the welcome and the article. I am not home today so I will work through the solutions when I get home later.

Also, I found it prudent that I write everything that I investigated/did all day yesterday just in case it helps solve my case. Update will now follow...

My plot thickens!

I also cannot access any sites that are HTTPS.

I also disabled my wireless connection (I always run both wireless and RJ45). Now I am only on the RJ45

Another item of note. 2 laptops and 2 desktops on my home network are having none of these issues.

Another update. I have Verizon FiOS and I accessed the router and used the diagnostics area to ping my laptop and I am attaching the failed! I am baffled upon all that is unholy in the IT world. I have a JPG to show but I cannot upload files here.

I reset the FiOS modem and basically I have reset all the computers as well. Still no change in the scenario.

I opened a command prompt and I pinged 127.0.0.1; 4 sent, 4 received, 0% loss.

I pinged my router's gateway; 4 sent, 4 lost, 100% loss. The same when I tried to ping google.com

I then performed an IP Release then IP Renew and tried pinging all again. Same exact results.

Sorry for all of the concurrent posts but I am a troubleshooter (or trouble maker) by nature and I am trying every conceivable thing I can think of.

I went through the articles and did everything but no luck. I was unable to perform the last two steps because I do not use Norton products. I do not believe in them.
