VISTA preventing serial activations...

Hello. Brand new to the boards. I purchased Uniblue's Speed Up My PC. It is a program that tweaks various things to enhance computer performance. It received a very good review.
Anyway, I was able to successfully install the trial program, which then demands a serial number to activate the full version. Every time I input this serial number and activate, the message is returned that SUMP has stopped working and that Windows will now close the program.
I have been in contact with Uniblue and they have tested the serial code themselves and it is fine. That leads me to believe that Vista is causing this repeated crash. I should also mention that I have reinstalled the thing more than a few times.
Does anyone have any ideas? Clearly Windows is just refusing to run this program as intended. Thank you

Have you tried running the program as administrator? To do this right click on the program icon to open it from say your desktop and click run as administrator. Also, when you are running it have you gone into the task manager and seen how much memory the program is using and how much demand it is putting on your CPU?
I am familiar with the program and have tried it on my Vista bench machine and didn't have any problems, mind you I wasn't activating it and it was just the trial program. I would really check to see how much demand it is putting on the CPU and memory and try running it as the administrator.

I tried as an administrator and that did not help. Same error message. It looks to me as if it is running too much of my memory. 69,000 or something ridiculous. What can I do to help this? I am totally stuck on this one.

Do you have a lot of programs running? Maybe try closing out of some of the programs you aren't using. Also there maybe a compatibility issue with an anti-virus/malware program you are using. 69,000K isn't too bad, however if you aren't using a lot of RAM and have a lot of other programs running that can be an issue. Also if it is using a lot of the CPU it can cause the program to freez up.

There is no apparent source for this problem. I have shutdown all malware/anti-virus stuff. My computer is running well within safe memory levels. It is a pretty powerful machine. I have downloaded a different version of the program. I still cannot get the thing to activate properly. There has to be something wrong with how Vista (at least my Vista) is accepting this program. The program isn't freezing up... it is just shutting down. Any other ideas? This is driving me crazy.

My only other idea/suggestion is just get rid of the program. Those computer optimizers are useless and don't do anything that can't be done quickly and easily yourself. It sounds like this program is big rip off.

Hi, you are lucky uninstall this program as soon as possible I have just spent the last hour getting my system up after testing your problem. The program asks for .net framework V3.5 and attempts to install it for you a NO NO for any serious developer you have to have Vista SP1 to start with and uninstall V3 if the reg key indicates this is set to 1. What are these guys thinking!! Most if not ALL reg cleaners and optimizers are simply not needed built into Windows are all the tools you need. There is no magic pudding most of the claims made to justify your purchase do not add up. You can achieve more with free programs use CCleaner

Hello I had the SUMP problem and just received a fix from Uniblue.
I have tried to upload it here but can not seem to do so.
Keep getting "Upload failed. Please ask the administrator to ensure the upload directory is available.
Any help here. So I can attach the file for the SUMP fix. The file is only 1.53 kb in size.

Captain Dale,
This thread is 6 or so weeks old.
If the original poster adds to the thread I suggest that you post details of the available fix so that neojanus can contact Uniblue and request it - if they have not already found a remedy or removed the software from their system.
